Prabal Gurung For Target

Talk about "Designer For Less"

Prabal Gurung (Prah-ball Goo-rung), a name that has been echoing more and more lately, has collaborated with Target to release a line of clothing consisting of more than 80 pieces. Numerous celebs have been dressed in Prabal's stylish designs, from Michelle Obama in the White House to Kate Middleton in Wales, to Sarah Jessica Parker, Mila Kunis, Olivia Palermo, Zoe Saldana and many more red carpet celebs! Prabal Gurung is a favorite in the fashion industry and has been taking the world by storm with his uniquely edgy yet feminine silhouettes.

This collaboration has been an eagerly awaited one. The line was launched in select Target stores on February 10. Within one day it was almost completely sold out!! It was a huge success and I was lucky enough to be able to snatch a few items before they were gone! The line is called "Love" and there is definitely a lot to love about it!! It's very fashion forward and synonymous with this years latest trends. Integrated in the clothing is black and white, neon, stripes, floral's and patterns.

Prabal has stayed true to his aesthetic in this line, and has offered key looks that women admired on Michelle Obama and Kate Middleton, for instance, to consumers at a lower and more affordable price point. Prabal is adored for his dresses and jewelry, and Target was smart to stick to those basics in this collaborated line. The prices range from $15 to about $45. If you have time to run to your closest Target, I highly recommend you do so, these pieces are well crafted and running low on stock! Snatch some while you still can!! They are great for a night out in town, a girls dinner and party, a first date, a meet-the-parents night, and are versatile enough for the day as well!!  It's safe to say they hit the target on this one! ;)

I'm hypno-striped....

Everywhere you look in 2013, you will find stripes. This stylish trend has hit runways and stores everywhere. The great thing about the stripes is that you can play with them in a multitude of ways, from colors to embellishments, and fabrics to accessories. There are subtle ways to wear the trend and statement-making ways as well. Whichever path you take, stripes can be found in many shapes and forms. Don't be afraid, try things on and see what fits your taste and body the best. Most importantly, have fun with them! They are playful and serious at the same time, so depending on how you put your outfit together, you can create the look that's right for you and the mood you're in!

Play with colors and embellishments, and mix and match! I would totally do the yellow top with the salmon skirt or even with a colored skinny ankle pant, like a cobalt blue.

Fendi-- (Left: $1490) (Right: $590)
For Fendi...stripes just come naturally. Don't you just Love the pop of red on the right handbag, it makes the piece playful and creates a statement look!

SPLURGE:  Giuseppe Zanotti $1295                      STEAL: Toms $95 (oh, you know...just $1200 less)

I mean, even covers are striped these days...I told you they are inescapable!
Shown above is the Harper's Bazaar February 2013 Spain issue with Ginta Lapina in black and white Louis Vuitton.
Simply put...this cover is stripe-azing!

CHIC Halloween Costumes

BOO-tiful or Spooky, Cast a Spell this HaLoWeeN!

If you've ever said, "I wish I was _______(fill in the blank)", well you can be and Halloween is the day to do it! No restrictions, no worries about what people might say, and no limits as to how many people you could try to imitate on this crazy holiday! That's what makes this day so special and unique from others. People's personalities can come out through the costumes they choose to wear and the people they choose to represent. It gives you insight into what any individual either loves, thinks is funny, supports, wishes to be, etc.

Going back in time, two years ago to be exact, my friend Diana and I chose to create our own costumes inspired by people who we thought were interesting and who we admired. I chose to be Lady Gaga and wore a red lace dress that looked like the one she had worn to the 2009 MTV VMA Awards. This outfit already looked like a costume because of its spiked headpiece and lace covering the face. In my eyes, this was unique, fun, and perfect for Halloween, especially because there were no costumes out there like it. My mom and I bought fabric and made the whole costume ourselves! It was a great way to have fun and bond with her. My friend chose to be Jackie Kennedy because this was a person who she admired and learned a great deal about. Her pillbox hat definitely completed the outfit, and mind you, she actually looks a little bit like Jackie O!

Two years later, back to present day, here we are side by side again in our favorite homemade costumes, except this time we are on Fox TV, Good Day Chicago. I am an intern stylist for Barbara Glass and I dress the models on the fashion segments she does for Fox TV. I was excited to model my own costume for this segment and I asked Diana to model hers with me. Who would have thought we'd ever bust these costumes out again and on television!? We had a gh'oul time and the other models totally rocked their looks as well. Barbara was dressed as the innovative and unique Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld, Kourtney was dressed as the outrageous Nicki Minaj, and Hannah was dressed as the classy and always beautiful Audrey Hepburn from the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's. View the video here:

Don't settle for the boring and predictable costumes that show up in Halloween stores every year. Carve your own memories by creating costumes that can wow or scare your friends! There are always things happening in our world to give us inspirations, so park your witches broom and soak it in. I'll leave you  now with some simple creative, fun, unique, and confident because despite how judgmental people can be, on Halloween day everyone is  free of that. Be safe and have chills and thrills!!
